Šideri Váňová Golf Academy Episode 9 - Course Management
Thanks to Course Management we are able to save a lot of shots on the course. In this new episode, Shideri shares with us 4 important tips on how to make the right decisions to save as many unnecessary shots as possible on the course. Let's take a look at them together.
1. I don't try to play aggressively around the hole, but on the middle of the green.
If the hole is drilled in the left corner of the green and there is also water on the left, we are not trying to play for the flag, but we are trying to place the ball in the middle of the green or play a shot to the right side of the green or a miss to the right side of the green. Most amateur players often think that they can play that shot in, say, several attempts, but then what often happens is that when a player goes headfirst straight down the hole, he is unable to play several consistent shots in a row under pressure and the ball ends up in the water. So we can say, whether the hole is drilled left or right on the green, we try to play the middle of the green or the opposite part where the flag is not.
2. If we get into trouble, we try to take the shortest way out.
The same applies if we get into the woods after a bad shot, for example. A lot of players in this case try to get the ball to the green in the fastest way at all costs, but often end up in an even more difficult situation. And that's why we always try to play with our heads. Even the pros don't often go for hero shots, because even though the risk is the gain, you have to have a really consistent swing to be able to afford the risk.
3. When we come to the tee, we always look at where it's going.
This is also where players often lose a lot of shots.A lot of people subconsciously pitch with the tee and often aim off the fairway or sometimes even off the tee.
4. If we don't have a day, we don't try to break it.
If we don't have a day, the driver isn't working, the wood isn't working, we're losing shots and we're still trying to play the driver, let's not be afraid to get an iron and not try to break those days. Even in those moments, it usually pays to put the ego to the side and play conservative golf.
